Open House at the new Baptist Joint Committee on Religious LibertyWritten by Don Byrd

In less than a week, Giving Tuesday offers the opportunity to give thanks in a very particular way. The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is set aside as an occasion to make a signature contribution to nonprofit organizations you care about.

You won’t be surprised to know that I encourage you to consider supporting the work of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty, the only religious organization in Washington, D.C. devoted solely to religious liberty and the separation of church and state.

I am proud to support the BJC with my own Giving Tuesday contribution because I want leaders on the hill and churches across the country to know there are strong Christian voices advocating for church-state separation as an essential linchpin of our faith. The BJC continues to increase its reach – bringing groups to its Center for Religious Liberty in D.C., traveling across the United States to churches and denominational meetings, and filing briefs with appeals courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.

Join me! Anything you can give will help support this essential work and keep expanding the unique religious voice of the BJC. Monthly tax-deductible contribution options are available online, and are a great way to budget your giving while lifting up the BJC year round.

I will have more to say about it next week, but don’t let Giving Tuesday sneak up on you! Make your decisions now, click the contribute button Tuesday morning, and spend that important day spreading the word to your family and friends to inspire even more giving. #GivingTuesday
