Constitution Day

On September 17, 1787, this country’s Founders signed what is arguably the most influential document in American history: the U.S. Constitution. The Constitution established a framework for the government, as well as the rights, liberties and freedoms of U.S. Citizens. This year, Constitution Day will be celebrated on September 18.

The Constitution is especially important to the Baptist Joint Committee as we work to defend and extend religious liberty for all people. In the first 16 words of the First Amendment, there are two protections for religious liberty. Explore this page and click on its graphics to learn more.
