Don Byrd



Don Byrd is the award-winning author of the BJC’s Blog from the Capital.

Since 2005, the blog has been keeping readers informed of the many daily events, statements, decisions and commentary relating to religious liberty and the separation of church and state. In 2015 and 2016, Byrd was honored for his work on the BJC’s blog with a DeRose-Hinkhouse Award of Merit from the Religion Communicators Council.

A teacher of music theory at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., Byrd earned his J.D. from the Belmont University College of Law in 2014 and is a member of the Tennessee Bar. He also holds undergraduate degrees from Belmont University and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh.

Byrd and his wife, Lisa, live in Nashville, Tenn.
