It’s here! The Baptist Joint Committee’s new Center for Religious Liberty is open, after a ceremony Monday that included remarks from Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer. Among other things, he discussed the importance of amicus briefs like those submitted to the Court by the BJC on difficult religious liberty issues. “I want those briefs,” he said, “because they’ll tell me what a group that is really interested in this and really perhaps knows more about it than just the lawyers for one of the parties [thinks].”

You can watch video of his remarks at the opening of the new Center here.

Congratulations to Brent Walker and the BJC on this accomplishment, and great thanks to Justice Breyer for helping to commemorate the opening on Monday!
