Religious freedom is more than a set of principles or constitutional protections. Religious freedom is a practice that requires discipline, particularly from a religious group that has majority status in a community.

BJC Executive Director Amanda Tyler will discuss how that practice can help Christians respond to rising authoritarianism and a theocracy. She will be the presenter for a special program, hosted by the Buttry Center for Peace and Nonviolence at Central Seminary, on Sept. 17 at noon Central Time.

Amanda will explain what a practiced religious freedom looks like and how it can contribute to a pluralistic democracy. She will point to examples of advocacy against rising Christian nationalism in public schools and threats to free and fair elections, giving actionable ideas for faith leaders to engage in some of today’s most pressing challenges.
