Protecting Religious Liberty Through Legislative Action.

Advocacy is how we take our values to the halls of power – school boards, state legislatures, congressional offices, executive agencies, and more. It means speaking up through petitions, public testimony, or direct contact with elected officials to help shape policy and influence decisions.

In any given legislative session, we may lead briefings, meet directly with lawmakers and their staff members, analyze new legislation, testify at hearings or build broad advocacy coalitions to sustain religious liberty.

ACTION ALERTS

Defend religious freedom in national legislation

BJC provides simple forms you can use to contact your lawmaker about important issues. We’ve got some sample text for you, and you can make it your own!

  • A couple stands together in a church, holding a baby and a candle, wearing formal attire.

Support the Protect Sensitive Locations Act

ICE and the Trump administration have made it harder for communities to live, gather, and worship without fear, and now we need to act and ask our elected officials to hold ICE accountable and protect local communities by passing the Protecting Sensitive Locations Act (H.R.1061/S.455) into law.

Use the simple form to ask your members of Congress to 1) hold ICE accountable by withholding funding and 2) pass the Protecting Sensitive Locations Act to protect places of worship, health care facilities, schools, and childcare facilities from ICE enforcement.

  • People are holding colorful protest signs advocating for freedom, dignity, and reproductive rights.

    Support the NO BAN Act

President Donald Trump issued a new travel ban in his second administration that prohibits or limits nationals from more than a dozen countries from entering the United States. It went into effect June 9, 2025, and it will separate families, strand lawful residents, and normalize religious and racial discrimination in U.S. immigration policy.

There’s a way for you to oppose it: Support the NO BAN Act (S.398/H.R. 924) to ensure no president can use executive power to impose religious or racial discrimination in our immigration system.
