Webinar: Texas State Board of Education 101
Last month was an eventful one at the Texas State Board of Education, and people in Texas are continuing to build on our ongoing campaign countering the Texas State Board of Education’s revised standards for social studies curriculum and proposed a required reading list for every public school student in Texas.
Unfortunately, the SBOE voted 9-5 to approve a required reading list that includes Protestant Bible texts for K-12 Texas public school classrooms. But the work continues.
As a follow up to our testimony and actions at the State Board in June, we will host a Texas-wide webinar with our coalition partners on Tuesday, July 14, at 7 p.m. Central Time about the role of the State Board of Education and how people in Texas can make a difference this election cycle.
The webinar will feature Q&A with a current member of the SBOE and presentations by statewide advocates on how the SBOE works. We’ll begin planning for what’s next in our fight for religious freedom in Texas public schools.
