Be part of a member body

Religious Liberty Council

BJC has more than a dozen member bodies, most of which are Baptist denominations that support our work and want to partner together to advance religious freedom.

But, if you aren’t a member of one of those Baptist denominations, there is a member body you can be part of: The Religious Liberty Council.

This group is composed of all people who have made a financial donation – of any size – to BJC’s work within the past three years. So, in effect, all donors have representation on the BJC Board of Directors through the Religious Liberty Council.

  • The Religious Liberty Council itself is led by three officers, who are elected by the members. The group meets once a year – usually on Zoom – to conduct business and elect representation. This meeting is virtual, and all donors to BJC will receive an invitation to it via email.

  • Religious Liberty Council members are elected to a 3-year term on the BJC Board of Directors, and they can be re-elected once in succession. Officers are elected to 1-year terms, and they can be re-elected up to three times.

In addition, the members of the Religious Liberty Council who were elected to serve on the BJC Board of Directors will meet in person during BJC’s annual board meeting, which usually takes place each October.
