Hillary Clinton met with the US Commission on International Religious Freedom for the first time as Secretary of State. She received the Commission's annual report and remarked that the President's Cairo speech made clear the Obama Administration's belief that religious freedom is a "core human right" and a "core American value."

The Justice Department has filed a lawsuit against Essex County, NJ alleging religious discrimination in the refusal to allow a police officer to wear a head scarf in keeping with her religious beliefs.
