By a vote of 13-6, the Senate Judiciary Committee has voted to send the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the full Senate for a confirmation vote.
In his statement prior to voting yes, Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) noted his belief that Judge Sotomator would protect religious freedom, among reasons for his support.
