It will be a while before we know whether the IRS will open inquiries into any of the churches that participated in "Pulpit Sunday", endorsing political candidates from the pulpit, placing their tax exempt status in jeopardy. Americans United has already sent a referral regarding one of the 100 or so that reportedly took part, calling on the agency to look into the violation.

As such, his candidate endorsement from the pulpit constitutes an official endorsement by the nonprofit religious organization itself.”
