In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court has ruled the UC-Hastings Law School policy prohibiting officially recognized student groups from discriminating in membership is constitutional. The "all-comers" policy, Justice Ginsburg writes for the majority, is a "reasonable, viewpoint-neutral condition" for access to University benefits. Justices Kennedy, Breyer, Sotomayor and Stevens joined in the majority, while Justice Alito authored the dissent.
