The Texas Freedom Network has released the full results from a poll taken in May showing Texans overwhelmingly want politics out of the curriculum process, with 72% saying experts and not elected officials should be responsible for crafting school textbook standards. And there's more:
Texas voters have complex views regarding the intersection of religion and education, with 68 percent saying separation of church and state is a key constitutional principle but 49 percent saying religion should have more influence in public schools.
…
55 percent of likely Texas voters oppose using publicly funded vouchers that allow some students to attend private and religious schools.
With the number of activists running around the country claiming church-state separation is a lie, or worse, I'll take 68% today who affirm its importance.
