Despite pride in our democracy, the Constitution and Bill of Rights that guarantee our fundamental liberties, we are often misinformed about our rights under the First Amendment generally and religious liberty in particular.
In Arizona Christian School Tuition Organization v. Winn, et al., the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty says the U.S. Supreme Court should protect the right of taxpaying citizens to sue over an alleged violation of the U.S. Constitution’s prohibition of a government establishment of religion.
When we look back on this chapter in our nation’s history, wouldn’t we rejoice if it could be said that we asserted a bold Christian witness, including a vigorous defense of the God-given right of religious freedom for all? Let’s get to work.
