Electoral Politics Contra Religious Accommodation

Say what you will about the propriety or necessity of "conscience clause" laws that require employers to allow medical workers to refuse service that violates their religious beliefs. Depending on how the rule is worded, I have mixed feelings about it myself. But having become a campaign issue, this doesn't seem to be a terribly accurate or helpful description of the proposal the Massachusetts legislature ultimately rejected.
