New York City officials have not wasted any time following the Supreme Court's denial today of the appeal of the Bronx Household of Faith. While a ruling earlier this year by the 2nd Circuit upheld the City's ban on the use of public school facilities for religious worship on weekends, churches affected were allowed to continue use of the buildings pending appeal. Now things have changed. The NYTimes reports:

New York City has set a Feb. 12 deadline for about 60 churches that have been holding services in city schools. After that date, such services can no longer be held in public schools.

Today's denial does not amount to a ruling on the issues, but it's sure to be viewed by many as tacit approval of New York's policy. Will more cities follow suit and ban worship services in school buildings?
