Oregon's Statesman-Journal reports that the state legislature has sent a bill to the Governor that would make explicit protections of religious freedom in the workplace.
Senate Bill 786, which the House passed 38-21 on Friday, requires that employers must provide accommodation for religious beliefs provided that it does not impose an "undue hardship" on the business. The bill is closely modeled on current state law about the accommodation of people with physical disabilities in the workplace.
You can read the bill here. I notice in the summary that public school districts are specifically allowed to prohibit "religious dress" among teachers while in their official capacity.
