A voter in Fairmount, Pennsylvania was required by poll workers to "affirm" her address by placing her hand on a Bible. And after reporters looked into the allegation, it turns out she wasn't the only one (my emph.)
We confirmed [Lindsay] Granger's story with Bob Lee, the City Commission's voter registration administrator, who said that Bibles have been included in polling-place supplies for decades. They are used to swear in polling-place workers before the polls open on Election Day.
…
Granger also did not complain to the Committee of Seventy, an election-watchdog group, which received three complaints about Bibles at polling places in the city on Election Day…
US Citizens have long been able to affirm the truth of their statements without being required to swear on a religious text or otherwise invoke God. This situation should be no different. Fairmount, let's replace the Holy Bible in the election supply kit with a stack of affidavit forms. Should do the trick.
