What a Touchy Subject!: Religious Liberty and Church-State Separation

By J. Brent Walker, Baptist Joint Committee Executive Director

Book cover FINALBased on his 2013 Shurden Lectures, What a Touchy Subject! serves as a primer for religious liberty in the United States. The book provides historical, theological and constitutional context to what Walker describes as “a gift from God.” Within the three chapters, Walker dives deep into Baptist heritage and the protections provided by the First Amendment. He also explains the relationship between religious ethics and public policy.

In addition to the three lectures, the book includes information about the history and mission of the BJC, with a Foreword from Walter B. Shurden.

The lectures were delivered April 9-10, 2013, on the campus of Stetson University in DeLand, Fla. For more information on the Shurden Lectures, click here.
